DESCRIPTION: Seth Thomas Clock Co., Thomaston, Conn., "Globe", 8 day, quartered oak wall timepiece, c1896 The initials on the dial: "W. J. & S. R. R." is the abbreviation for the "West Jersey & Seashore Rail Road". In the 1900 edition of "Statistics of Railways in the United States" this railroad operated under the Pennsylvania RR system claiming assets of over 11 million dollars, 330 miles of track and carrying 2 million passengers annually.
CONDITION: Refinished quartered sawn oak in very nice clean condition. Original painted dial with some fading of some of the numbers and a small paint repair in the center. Hands and pendulum are original. Partial label inside the case. Gilt border in the bottom door is now gold painted. Ht 31"
